CHS - Jones

Mr. Phil Jones teaches several subjects at CHS, including dual enrollment in US history, French, and education as a profession. He sponsors the Chess Club, French Club, Future Teachers of America Club, and co-sponsors for the History Club. He is also an adjunct history instructor at the UTM Parsons Center. When asked about his ideas on education, he stated, "What contributions I've made as a teacher, I've learned from other teachers in the Benton County School System - initially the ones who taught me while growing up, to the ones I taught with when I was a young teacher, to the incredible ones I am surrounded by at CHS today." He stated, "One program we utilize in our school system is Capturing Kids' Hearts. Through this system, we all work hard to make the students aware that we care about them and are here to benefit them. We teach them to think about their behavior and both the good and bad consequences of behavior. We want them to have a good education and to be successful and well-adjusted individuals when they leave CHS."
